The writer thinks boomers shouldn’t retire. They should also sell their homes and move into smaller spaces. His only valid point is that boomers had too few children, but women going to work was why.
My wife retired today after 22 years with her department and 28 years as a police/fire/EMS dispatcher. At 65, she is ready to retire. I'm still working full time building leading edge code for DoD at age 67. Both of my homes are free and clear of debt. I'm not selling or moving anywhere. This is my home when I retire...debt free...because I managed my resources carefully. I had 3 sons. The oldest died at 32 after 4 open heart surgeries, a pacemaker, multiple artificial valves. Z-Pak caused sudden cardiac death. My middle son has degrees in Physics and Business Administration and is a real estate broker in 5+ states. The RE market has crashed, so he is applying to work for Loomis in Pensacola, FL. My youngest is managing a Valvoline shop in Shawnee, OK. He has one son. Just because you have children is no guarantee that they will.
