On the bright side, 33-year-old Mr. Michael Sherrill will not have to worry about junking his EV when the clock hits 100k and there are no buyers for it. He just “sold” it to his insurance company.

Since he was charged with DUI he may not have an insurance company.................any more..................

Yeah, maybe not - he was arrested for drunk driving, and I would bet that every auto policy has an exception for that, as well as any other criminal activity involved in damaging or destroying the covered vehicle. Does a bank robber get a check from Allstate after the po-po run his car off the road?

The EV crashed because the driver was DUI. Might not be insurance payoff for the EV.
