Are you saying that if our next president is Biden there is still hope that one day a Republican will be elected president? If so, you haven’t been paying attention.
Oh, yeah - you’re absolutely right. We should just give up and rally to the communist flag.
Two choices; fight or fold. If you have an ounce of manhood remaining, you’ll pick fight as your only real choice.
If not, the Demos treat their prisoners well (sort of).
Thought about it. This country cannot be united. It can’t be united because unchecked immigration and illegal entry by the third world won’t let it ‘unite.’
This country has become so divided by special interest and victim groups it isn’t funny. Even the WH has to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort just to placate and appease this faction or other to keep them from dominating the news cycles with their carefully choreographed, limited protests. Special interest and victim groups outweigh the greater-numbered conventional American interests by far.
Interesting thread, nikos. Funny, I was thinking along these lines the other day - a 9/0 vote would settle it, and take the wind out of leftist sails at the same time. Having said that, I doubt it would happen.
Another aspect to consider is that this coup does not follow the SCOTUS. Didn’t SCOTUS rule that cancelling student loans was unconstitutional? Yet Biden went full steam ahead. I think these people will force anything they want upon America unless they are soundly put in their place.
A country that does not unite around a certain theme, be it patriotism, faith, freedom, etc. cannot stand. That’s why the left always removes as much of God as they can, right off the hop.
A large population must either rule themselves, being united for the same good purpose, or be ruled. It’s that simple.
Not saying I look forward to it, just that I've resigned myself to it happening. With each passing day people get more and more divided. It's just a matter of time.
Barnes who has a big libertarian streak opposes big bail (says this worked strongly against J6ers as well) and opposes most civil rights infringements. Most R-appointed judges come from federal prosecutor ranks, who see no problem with violating civil rights.
Zen Master really knows how the courts schedule things. He says June. When you say “hearings,” I assume you mean trial/testimony? That’s correct.
There is no sense doing anything if the Supes are going to blow it all up, or even if they severely limit the types of questions or charges that can be used.
To me proof that the court is a complete liberal/anarchic disaster is that they have absolutely no problem doing something absolutely contrary to the spirit and letter of the Constitution, like socializing medicine.
Once they have done something like that, there is no way to redeem the SCOTUS.
Your endorsement of Roberts as someone who "feels compelled to even out the verdicts" is lost on me. To me, he is clearly compromised, and his decisions, like others on the SCOTUS, are so arbitrary and illogical that it is always a guessing game how he will rule. For that matter, it is a total tossup on how the SCOTUS will rule on almost every decision.
I ask you, should it be a complete tossup on how the SCOTUS should rule for every case? What about Kelo v. City of New London? WTH is going on when the pretense of eminent domain is used to expropriate one citizen's property and give it to another? Such a perversion of eminent domain.
You really don't have to be a lawyer to see that that is a bad, bad, ridiculous decision. Even a seventh grader can see it.
So whenever we get the runup to a SCOTUS, everyone gets nausea, because no one has ANY idea on how these clowns are going to rule. Maybe Thomas and Alito are a little better. But as a whole they are all vain, self-important, America-hating, Constitution-hating, clowns. So arbitrary and crazy when it comes to the law that rock/paper/scissors would be a better way to deal with SCOTUS decisions.
I AGREE WITH you. In my opinion, Roberts tries to please both sides. He is unpredictable, when above all else the SCOTUS should be predictable.
If they rule against Trump, and say that he has no immunity, then why do we even need a working government, because they will have damaged the balance of power.
I fully expect the three liberals will rule with what will be best for the left NOW.
Perhaps, maybe we can eeek out a win 5 to 4.
I think anyone with common sense should see this as cut and dried, with a 9-0 ruling in favor of giving the president immunity.
But, like you say, these people are unpredictable
