The solution is an over the air software update. It will be done in a few days and cost Tesla almost nothing.

“The solution is an over the air software update. It will be done in a few days and cost Tesla almost nothing”

Money wise yes I agree....public relations wise it may well cost tesla quit a bit, especially considering there is now a glut of these vehicles stacking up at dealerships that nobody wants.

Agreed!
It was the only good part.

That's what I was thinking. Won't this update be downloaded via wi-fi at the owner's home?

Not much of a recall.

Not so with Tesla!

My wife’s Honda is also easy to fool. All that is required is some minimal weight on the steering wheel. For a while, people were selling weights on Amazon, just a few ounces, that you put on the steering wheel. They were marketed to Tesla drivers but I’m sure they would work just as well on other cars with similar driver assist features.

Of course Honda doesn’t advertise the car as “self driving” or auto-pilot like Tesla and GM do. It’s a undocumented feature that combines several “driver safety” features.

I had to make sure this wasn’t a Babylon Bee story.

Have no fear, TeslaHumper or one of the other EV nerds will tell us that in a few years everything will be just perfect with EVs and you’ll be able to sleep the moment you get into the car and you’ll be able to travel, overland and a frozen Bearing Strait, from France to Maine or Key West(your choice) using only 2 AA batteries.

With the proper electronics and software techniques, a determined hacker can intercept or block your key fob signal, infiltrate your car’s software, and even remotely control your vehicle.

Tesla purchasers are brainwashed to love mass spying on them—over the air software update would definitely be the smart move.

Also, it’s not much of a stretch (for me at least) to see the federal government controlling if and when you can drive your EV.

Doesn’t tesla already have a remote kill switch?

I agree there will be some bad press for Tesla but it doesn’t seem to matter too much. My son is a auto broker and he has sold several used Teslas in just a day or two. Of course, we are in Denver and Teslas are very popular here. I can drive 2 miles to the grocery store and I will see 6 or 7 Teslas.

“The agency says its investigation found Autopilot’s method of ensuring that drivers are paying attention can be inadequate and can lead to foreseeable misuse of the system.”

i heard that the new update fixes this problem by giving the driver a little electrical shock to get their attention when they’re not paying attention ...
