I first saw the Dixie Chick’s with Laura Lynch in Fort Worth entertaining a group during the Republican Party of Texas state convention. I loved the bluegrass/ cowboy tunes. Rick Perry, commissioner of agriculture at the time, introduced them. I wondered what happened to the original combo and then I read up on LL.

Buddy of mine back in the day absolutely could not stand them. Called them the "Chixie Dicks". Unfortunate about Lynch's death, though. Every day a person is alive is an opportunity to turn away from destruction, but once your number's up, that's it. Finito.
