While looking at the photos of the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972, it occurred to us that the 1970s were just awful.
Worst decade ever.

I kinda liked the '70s.
- '72 graduated high school
- '76 graduated college
- '76 married current husband
Yup, they were good years.

Meh ... IQ could be anything, and she looks OK. That forced grin, though, suggests to me a very brittle, emotionally incontinent, high-maintenance personality.
No, thanks.

I enlisted in '65 at 17 and got out of the Army in 68, having learned Viet Nam, hippies, sex, drugs and rock n' roll . . . there was never a question . . . I headed straight (pun intended)
for all that debauchery and merry pranking.
The best times, the best cars, the best ATTITUDES of my generation, the best drugs and the best music . . and the greatest sex ever.
I'm all grown up now and live NOTHING like I did then, but . . . BOY ! . . . the memories we have because we survived it all.

I’d say the 1930s were the worst.

That was Pell’s first year actually.
But they did much better the next season.

Frampton Comes Alive The album was recorded in the first five months of 1975, primarily at Winterland in San Francisco as well as Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael, California, Long Island Arena in Commack, New York, and a concert on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus in Plattsburgh, New York. Plattsburgh's claim to fame.

I went to nursing school, graduated, got a job, got married and moved across the country and had two babies......other than moving across the country, it was a good decade....
I remember the pride of 1976....

If you didn’t grow up in the 70s, watching “Dazed and Confused” is the closest thing to experiencing it.

Looking at the picture, I’d guess this child was one of the folks Billy Joel wrote “We Didn’t Start the Fire” for. Ugh.

Yes--in the 1940s there was WWII (not only the Holocaust but tens of millions killed in Russia, China and other countries thanks to the Axis invaders), then the spread of Communism in Eastern Europe (Soviet bloc countries) and to North Korea and China.
The latter half of the decade was when the older Baby Boomers were born, which is good or bad depending on your perspective. Four Boomer Presidents so far, including one good one for 25%.

I think the 2020s beat the 1970s out by a mile and the decade is not even a third over.
Of course, the 1910s, 1930s, and 1940s were no walk in the park.

I did not know that and my brother worked at SUNY Plattsburgh back in 1986. He ran a dining hall there for Marriott. I visited once when he lived there.
