Well, it flowed fairly well once I realized that "Hal's Crytogram Helper" had screwed up the spacing of the letters within words. What looked like a one-letter word followed by a two- or multi-letter word actually turned out to be one actual word.
It threw me for a minute until I started comparing the actual cryptogram words with the way that "Hal" was spacing them in the helper.

I had the same experience. Maybe HAL was toying with us. When I posted it in https://quipqiup.com/ the computer solved it without a hitch. Then I noticed the fault was with HAL. As I was solving it in real time, I thought Apple’s puzzle was deliberately done that way to illustrate the point of the quote. Certainly made it challenging!
