I suppose you could make a case for seven teams, to include Georgia and Ohio State, if the playoffs were expanded to eight teams. But then there would be an argument about who would be #8 (probably Oregon).

But then there would be an argument about who would be #8 (probably Oregon). This is the first time that I see the need for more than 4 teams. Next year, they're expanding to 12, which is too many in my opinion, but not as bad as FCS, which has 24 teams! Way too many.
I don't know how the 12-bracket will work out. Maybe 9-10-11-12 play to see who gets in the round of 8? I don't know.
