I posted this in festival so will repost here.
I just spoke with Mairdie and she is fine. Taking a break from politics to keep upbeat. If you would like her phone number PM me as she said it is fine to give it to others.

I am glad she is ok.
What a beautiful web page she has and it reflects on her.

Take care Mairdie!

Good news regarding Mairdie. It’s good to walk away once in a while, a mental break. Even the military will rotate troops to let them rest, if possible.

I’m glad that she’s fine.

Many thanks all for your kindness and concern. I’ve been avoiding anything political as thinking of what they’re doing to My President is a knife too deep in my heart. So I avoid most reading to maintain a more even temper.

I haven’t made a music video in ages, though I’ve done a lot of the collection of images for one about 7th, 6th and 5th ggfathers of the same name. Their property, on which I’ve walked, is now a zoo and a park filled with the leavings of geese through which one makes one’s way VERY carefully. It’s just that my obsession of watching chinese movies had led me into huge files of obsessive detail about these films.

So much so that I’m having trouble forcing myself through a new e-book I’m trying to write on Henry Livingston’s Carrier Addresses. Those were broadsheet poems exchanged on New Year’s Eve for a fee from the customers. The first one in Henry’s handwriting, 1787, includes the NBC matter/clatter rhyme. Two from 1812 and 1814 describe the narrator being awakened by an elf but, unlike NBC, there’s no sugarplums - just a nightmare spright. Going back into my research site is turning me cross-eyed for the sheer amount of work we did over 10 years. A librarian friend in Virginia is writing an article on the NBC authorship and I’ve been walking him through the research and the memories.

So love to all and my warmest wishes for the best of holidays and the Happiest Christmas.

Love, Mary

Believe me, dear patrons, I have wand’red too far,
Without any compass, or planet or star;
My dear native village I scarcely can see
So I’ll hie to my hive like the tempest-tost bee.
Hail home! sacred home! to my soul ever dear;
Abroad may be wonders but rapture is here.
My future ambition will never soar higher
Than the clean brushed hearth and convivial fire;
Here I lounge at my pleasure, and bask at my ease,
Full readily sooth’d, and desirous to please,
As happy myself as I happy can be,
I wish all the circle as happy as me.

But hark what a clatter! the Jolly bells ringing,
The lads and the lasses so jovially singing,
Tis New-Years they shout and then haul me along
In the midst of their merry-make Juvenile throng;
But I burst from their grasp: unforgetful of duty
To first pay obeisence to wisdom and Beauty,
My conscience and int’rest unite to command it,
And you, my kind PATRONS, deserve & demand it.
On your patience to trespass no longer I dare,
So bowing, I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
H.L. 1819
