Forget about 1979. The Shah was only in power because the U.S. and Great Britain helped overthrown the elected Mossadegh government of Iran in 1953.

yeah I know. Kept the middle east stable for a quarter of a century. we should’ve backed the shah in 79. but Carter was weak.
