Can Twitter/X survive with the FR or Subscription model?

I just upgraded to Premium+ on there and it got me wondering if they could survive this way if all these advertisers pull out?

Others have mentioned the late Rush Limbaugh faced a similar boycott but Twitter/X is another level as it's quite a complex system and requires many employees/resources, etc.

With Musk telling advertisers to GFY and warning that X could be killed it seems obvious this situation is critical.

One thing he's launching is an AI assistant called Grok which will tap into Twitter's vast network.

ChatGPT has been hugely successful so maybe this will be a way of surviving without advertisers.

Grok will be available to Premium+ subscribers. Clever.

Another thing he's doing is releasing new features on X all the time. The ability to write and publish Articles is coming next

This might be of interest to some Freepers actually who want to write long-form articles or posts.

This could be a great way to spread the conservative message!

Either way I'm a little worried considering Elon's outburst that Twitter/X could be "killed".

I'm sure it won't as the interviewer points out Elon Musk has significant resources and many plates spinning (I dont know how he does it).

It reminds me of newspapers and the old press "barons" that controlled or ran them.

They would have significant losses but were/are considered influential enough to keep running by beneficial owners/proprietors.

Maybe Twitter/X will be the same for Elon Musk.

Dig deep, Mr. Musk!

“GFY”

I have objected in the past to indirect references to the term “f...”. The first indirect reference was ‘F-word”, then the “F-letter”, and now we have the F-letter embedded in an acronym.

That word (or is it the act itself?), has become a staple for conveying something deemed unsatisfactory.

When a speaker or writer publicly uses any reference to f..., they show blindness to dignity and elegance and the inability to rise above trashy writing. They insult their readers ... well, maybe not because ...

I may be wrong, but I read that Musk taking over Twitter has vastly increased the people using it.

Conservatives have come back - myself included. But the bots are gone, so the numbers may look a lot lower to advertisers than they (fraudulently) did under Dorsey.

Twitter elected Trump in 2016 - it's important, IMHO, for conservative influencers to go back to X. Preaching to the choir on Truth Social isn't going to win over any new voters.

Wasn’t the problem with Twitter that the system has to update everyone any time anyone posts a tweet thus requiring vast server support? Did they get past that problem?

Goes along with artist formerly known as Prince. Makes no sense.

Why not call it what it is X? Twitter doesn’t exist anymore.

I never had an account with twitter, X, instagram, tiktok, snapchat. linkedin or facebook.

I think X will survive just fine. It’s the only game in town, it’s the new media. What won’t survive is paper newspapers and the nightly news.

Simple solution: Pay people to view ads.

I am a 35+ year veteran of IT.
No, there is no “update” problem with Twitter.

I’m recalling an article I read on the sale of Twitter that opined that it could never make money because anytime anyone tweeted the whole system had to update and that the amount of power that took made profit unlikely. They used a name for the type of system. Not being terribly computer literate I don’t recall it. Seemed plausible.

So, you believe that the “media”

1) Knows beans about technology?
2) Accurately reports it if they did?

Do you realize that job google has is 1,000 times worse (Crawling the web in realtime for updates)? I am sure (I must have read it somewhere) that google has an untenable business because power and updates.
