Snow White and the depressing culture war over Disney’s ‘woke’ remake

The original Snow White movie is one of my all time favorites. Fond memories. The woke BS has to stop.

No reason for a live action movie unless it adds something new to the story.

Best known example? Hook, an adaption of Peter Pan. But you had Robin Williams in that movie and his presence carried the film.

Like many of the Disney animated films, the story is older than the Disney version. The Snow White story goes back at least as far as the Grimm brothers. Walt Disney himself had seen a 1917 movie of the same story. Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland, of course, are based on books written in the 19th century, and Bambi is based on a novel by the Austrian writer Felix Salten (translated into English by Whittaker Chambers). Of course there is usually added sugar in the Disney version.

Holy cow, I don’t think that word doesn’t means what the author thinks it means. At least I hope not.

A homunculi was a false stab at genetics: inside every fertilized egg, it was supposed, was a tiny, tiny version of a human being which the zygote would develop into. It basically served as the plan by which the new human would be constructed. I suspect — hope — the author simply read, “tiny human” and quit reading.

Following this controversy has been a hoot. I don't see any single aspect of the thing that has gone well, from writers to script to casting to direction to CGI to production, absolutely everything appears to have ended up shabbily done and grossly over budget. "Reimagining" has produced a charming romantic fairy tale with the charm, romance, and fairies (dwarves in that role) torn out. What's left?

It isn't helped by a publicity campaign that is seemingly designed to insult as much of its potential audience as possible. Zegler is an arrogant, repellent brat who has insulted her fellow cast members, her director, and worst of all, the movie's deservedly legendary predecessor. Test screenings have seen their viewers walk out. Re-shoots have already ballooned the budget to over $300 million and by 2025 that may be $400 million or even more if the thing doesn't receive a mercy killing in the meantime. We can but hope.

I think Disney should pour at least another $200 million into the film and advertising for it. Definitely.

Disney isn’t just grooming children with radical sexual propaganda — now they’re bragging about it.

On the heels of Florida’s new Parental Rights in Education law, which bars educators from instructing kindergarten through third-grade students about sexual ideology, multiple executives and employees from the Walt Disney Company admitted their own personal missions to deluge 5- to 9-year-olds with as much of their own sexual ideology as possible.

One Disney executive boasted about her “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and efforts at “adding queerness to” children’s programming, in leaked audio published by investigative journalist Chris Rufo on Tuesday.

“Our leadership over there has been so welcoming to my, like, not-at-all-secret gay agenda,” said Latoya Raveneau, an executive producer for Disney Television Animation. “I was just, wherever I could, just basically adding queerness … No one would stop me and no one was trying to stop me.”
