Just saw my El Salvadorian friend at my late brother’s mass yesterday. Ironically, we were IN El Savador for the beauty contest in the 70s. There was an armed person at each corner. We got to HANG OUT with ALL the bikini-clad contestants around the hotel pool. It was COOL. And my brother and I came back wearing the machetes on our belts on the plane.

He said El Salvador’s really safe now, no armed guards. The ES Pres. just sent 1,000s to jail. He said it’s so different now.
