Shocker-——the SFPD is actually investigating a crime.
The San Francisco PD confirmed it is investigating an armed robbery of a Czech production team at 4:56 p.m. at the APEC summit site. According to officers, a vehicle stopped on the street, and three armed men with firearms exited the car and approached the group. The suspects demanded their production equipment, and the victims complied.
The suspects returned to their vehicle and fled, police said. While the police department did not confirm that the victims were journalists, reporter Bohumil Vostal of Czech television station ČT24 said he was among those robbed.

That crime occurred at Columbus and Broadway in North Beach which is—or was—a popular tourist area that was considered safe. There are—or were—many Italian restaurants in the area and Chinatown is close by.

Columbus and Broadway, North Beach meets Chinatown, what a great area. Lived there a couple of years. Gino and Carlos with signed Sinatra picture, The Saloon, pre civil war bar with great music. Washington Square Bar and Grill, The Stinking Rose(they sell food with their garlic). What a neighborhood.

They should have left the filthy homeless encampments up as well, that would have made great reporting to the “folks back home.”
