....the late teen-aged son of one of our good friends is hell-bent on joining the U.S. military....as a nearly 30-year veteran myself, I’m telling him not to enlist...today’s armed forces are not what I served in and this country today is not the country I swore an oath to protect and defend.... jus’ sayin’ ...

I was on active duty from 76-84. My sons and nephews heard a few of my stories. I loved my time in the Army, but it’s a far cry from today’s military.
