A Florida man is accused of recklessly mowing down two sheriff's deputies, leaving them in critical condition - before being arrested on attempted murder charges.
Ralph Bouzy, 28, was in his vehicle near his home in Hillsborough, Florida, at around 8am on Thursday when he suddenly accelerated his car and rammed into Corporal Carlos Brito, 39, and Deputy Manuel Santos, 31, cops said.
Bodycam footage released by Hillsborough County Sheriff Office shows the two officers standing in front of their marked patrol SUV and then attempting to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
The 'ambush' occurred minutes after the deputies responded to a call from Bouzy's mother, who reported that she was in fear of her son who was behaving violently at their home.
'There is no other way to describe this other than an ambush,' said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a press release. 'Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community and what happened today makes me absolutely sick.'
Brito, who joined the department in 2013, and Santos, who joined in 2019, sustained 'serious, critical injuries' and have been sent to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said Bouzy has previously been arrested for three felonies and 14 misdemeanors. He faces three counts of attempted murder with more charges possible.
The sheriff's office received a call at 7.44am Thursday morning, from a woman stating that 'she was in fear of her son, who was behaving violently'.
The deputies arrived at their home in Brandon on Dexwell Court and met Bouzy, who was in the driver's seat of a vehicle in the driveway of his home.

….You know the story doesn’t end well.
Our criminal justice system is do dysfunctional that real criminals don’t stay behind bars long enough. Prosecutors make money by over charging most defendants to set up plea deals. So innocent people plead to lesser charges and fatten the governments coffers, while truly bad people get away with serious crimes that are plea bargained down to something lesser, or less time incarcerated. It’s a system that benefits the guilty, and puts them out on the street sooner.
Domestic violence calls often involves “ready to jump” crazy.
Need more caution.
RE: a call from Bouzy’s mother, who reported that she was in fear of her son who was behaving violently at their home.
So mom said he is NOT “still basically a good boy” and “trying to turn his life around.”
He’s a violent loser.
RE: ‘Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community and what happened today makes me absolutely sick.’
No one likes to hear it but many of the American people are not worth protecting by law enforcement. The officers get ridiculed, spat upon, brought into civil court for being harsh and suspended for various things the cop hating review boards don’t like to see in the media. Phooey.
Drugs, mental illness, meanness? Doesn't matter. The animal is damaged goods and not repairable. Another endless drain on society.
I was surprised they didn’t shoot him.
Hopefully this human garbage will be dealt with in prison.
