Anyone else having problems receiving USPS packages, or UPS/FedEx items? During the past few weeks I have had several mailed/shipped items take bizarre turns in routing which has created delays in receiving.
I guess watching shipments is front and center these days.
With a big turnover and high illiteracy among those same part-timers slouching around the regional hubs.
“Our bank said check theft (from bills, etc) began w/the curbside mailboxes...but, has now progressed to items even LEFT WITH THE P.O. !!”
A few months ago my wife had a few checks copied, forged and cashed for many thousands of dollars stolen AFTER THEY WERE PROCESSED. Looks like an inside job at check processing facilities. All of the money lost was covered by the bank. We’ve stopped paying by check whenever possible. When we have to mail a check we do it INSIDE the Post office.
Watch the opening of the movie, “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.”
It will show you the “special handling” of your packages by a large package delivery company.
” I still prefer writing checks for some of my bills. ...”
I only use billpay from a credit union account. Not my stamps and not a theft risk on my end. Don’t even need blank checks.
Now I can have a problem if I need a check to hand to someone in-person at my house. Billpay sends it here to me, all made out.
Oh boy.
I just ordered a perishable item that’s supposed to be delivered next week. Hope it gets here without delays. :~ /
You might have made it under the wire!
It’ll be pre-perished, just for you !!
Looks like I’m going to have to change my ways. grrr
I use checks to write all my bills. We used to have a fantastic mailman. You could set your watch to him. Never a problem getting wrong mail. Then our great mailman got some sort of promotion and everything went downhill fast. I guess about a year ago I noticed we weren’t getting the usual amount of mail. Lots of days we would get nothing at all. Very unusual for us. Then I read an article quite awhile ago how people would steal mail out of mailboxes [house or public ones]. I didn’t want to chance our mail, especially my checks with the bills getting stolen. So now what I do is take all my bills and mail directly to the local postal depot. It’s not far from our house, I know all mail is routed through there, so my checks/bills get out in a very timely matter. Almost every time I take mail to the depot, it gets to the destination in 2 days.
If I were to take my bills to our local post office, the mail goes from there to that depot I currently use. Adding almost a week before the stuff actually goes out! Now since using the depot, I never worry about my bills getting out in a timely manner.
Sounds good, but you might want to read this...

Despite GPS and no issues with other carriers, Fed Ex regularly delivers to the wrong house. Contractors I think…
yes, always.
I live in No. Va. My stuff will be in my local PO, according to tracking, and then sent to Virginia Beach, or even Maryland. It will arrive eventually.
I don’t understand it.
some lucky bastard got free sex toys! haha.
I’ve lived in the same location for 40 years and previously have had no problem with packages being delivered (even in the pre-Amazon era). However, in the past two months, I’ve had packages just disappear off the tracking site with a message stating “delayed”. Many times packages never arrive or else a tracking message says “delivered” but it never arrives at my box. This is different than just being delivered to a neighbor’s house. We are used to “re-delivering” the packages as the drivers seem to think “close” is good enough so they just toss the mail into a driveway somewhere on our road.
As to USPS mail, I’ll never put anything in the U.S. Mail again. I can mail something across town and it can take three or four weeks to arrive if it ever does. Sometimes the piece mailed just disappears. US Mail priority tracking doesn’t work because the system is sometimes just not updated so it indicates your mailed item is stuck in Cincinnati in perpetuity. (I mailed my mother’s final life insurance payment two years ago and it is still stuck in Cincinnati according to the website).
Service everywhere sucks!

LOL It just needed some redfish and beans!
Now, I want to go!
Where I live we have gone through 3 rural mail carriers in just about as many years after the long-term carrier retired. Residents in my neighborhood regularly joke about our weekly mail swap. Can’t tell you how many times we come home to mail blowing across 1 or more yards or find USPS packages addressed to people living over a mile away on streets whose names aren’t even close to ours. Discussions with the postmaster are a waste of time.
With UPS, you can add at least 3 days to stated delivery times and many times a delivery notice is received days before the package actually arrives. Last week I sent a lab sample via next day early delivery...it arrived un-testable 4 days later....a waste of $250.00 for the lab kit and $78.00 in shipping cost.
When it comes to FedEx, I won’t purchase a product if the seller uses them for shipping.
All of them are at the forefront of the “dont-give-a-shit” attitude that has become so prevalent in our post-covid world.
“I’ve been the recipient of a lot of that stuff. Including a cheap student violin, drinking glasses, sex toys, hair pieces, deodorizing powder, and some other stuff I forget. “
I remember reading about someone who ordered a flat-screen tv and got a much smaller box. But there was an assault rifle inside.
Accidental transfer of shipping label from a package destined to a FFL gunsmith.
Only thing similar happened to me was I ordered a tomahawk and got a shoe stretcher.
