That’s a great question. There should be mandatory 2-3 year service for USA yutes and most of it should be spent on border security.

There should be mandatory 2-3 year service for USA yutes and most of it should be spent on border security. We might soon see peacetime conscription in the form it existed from 1940 to 1973. Conscripts would be used to fill positions that couldn't be filled through recruiting. If that happens, recruiting will improve in the Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy, as people seek to avoid the Army. Not sure if the Marines will be effected much. Conscripts will get the least desirable jobs, those that can't be filled through recruiting. Of course, there will be ways to avoid service, especially if you have money.
A far easier way to fix recruiting would be to get rid of free college. That used to be one of the top incentives for lower middle class to enlist. Now it is free for most without giving up 4 years of your life.
