Arrival
If ever there were a perfect movie, it’s this Amy Adams gem from Dune director Denis Villeneuve. The narrative is based on Story of Your Life, a Nebula-winning novella written by Ted Chiang, its themes exploring language barriers and bridging the gap between humanity and things we don’t understand. It’s heavy stuff for an alien drama, but trust us when we say it’s so, so worth your time.

No kidding. If they do a list of the greatest westerns, I bet Brokeback Mountain will be right near the top.
Agree with Best Years of Our Lives. And if you liked that another WWII film somewhat along the same lines is Since You Went Away. A tear jerker but good tears in the end. Now that I think of it Mrs. Miniver is excellent also.
Rather a comic list designed to shock. She HAS seen a lot of movies, but a movie like Hidden Figures is formulaic.
Omitting Citizen Kane was done on purpose, amusing that Third Man made the list instead. Godfather at 61 is laughable, exclusion of Godfather Part 2 idiotic.
Both films are good and yes, dramas!
All of these lists, that were posted yesterday and today are WORTHLESS, STUPID, INCORRECT, and not worth the space they are taking up on FR!
OTOH...they DO allow us all to talk about these movies and others. :-)

Jaws is actually #1
It is on satellite allll the time bc it is re watched all the time because it IS the best drama.
They much earlier, B&W one, is also very well done!
The Godfather is also near the top of my list. It is excellent. Pacino was spellbinding. So was the rest of this splendid cast. It's one of the few movies that really do justice to the book, which was also excellent.

As for their list:
The Third Man was third rate.
Thelma and Louise was tenth rate.
I've never heard of most of the rest of these flicks.
Malcolm X was good.
The Brando/Leigh version of Streetcar Named Desire was cartoonish and risible; a better version was made later with Alec Baldwin, Jessica Lange, John Goodman and Diane Lane.
Boys Don't Cry was silly and forgettable. So was Gladiator.
In the Heat of the Night was good.
LA Confidential was a very good movie. I liked that. Crowe was good in that but should have quit when he was ahead.
It is hard to believe that anyone would include that absurd 1940 version of Rebecca in any list of good movies. It was awful.
And it's easy to believe that someone with an IQ below 70 and taste to match might include the emetic 1997 Titanic as a great movie. Especially somebody who didn't appreciate Gone with the Wind, Los Olvidados, All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), and Tomorrow
These lists have the intended effect of engaging an audience.
The more they get wrong, the more clicks and comments they get.
I like your tastes, but let’s not forget such timeless classics as “ Gerte the Dinosaur”, “La Dolce Vita”, and “Porkies Sicks - The Porkopalypse” based on the novel.
My contempt for hollywood is so great that I have only seen four. May all fart in their general direction.
I scanned the list and I wouldn’t want to watch over 80% of them if you paid me.

I live drama every day so I don’t watch it.
