First, I think you didn’t read the article. Second, It’s not about the money so much as it is about the time it takes to spend $2000 on dates. If you figure dinner and a movie for about $75-$100 (is this a reasonable amount? I haven’t dated in over 30 years) and maybe a couple of drinks for another $25-$50, you have quite a few dates she gets to know someone before she decides to sleep with him. By that time, she’ll decide if he’s a keeper or a throw back and cast again.
Of course once you get married, she’ll complain that you’re spending so much money on beer.
When you point out to her, how much she spends on makeup.
And when she says, “But that’s to make me look attractive to you”, you tell her, “What do you think the beer’s for?”
But why not substitute her making sammiches for him, in place of him spending bucks on her?
That way, after she has made, say, one hundred sammiches for him, he'll know whether she's a keeper (and vice-versa).
