Stylin, are you saying you believe Palestinians had their own land? If so you should read this article.

The Forgotten History of the Term "Palestine"

I understood that the Romans called the area Palestine (after the Philistines) to rile the Jews after one of the emperors (Constantine?)became Christian and it spread through the Roman Empire. From what I understand, it is the land of Canaan, a land that God gave to Abraham. Jews, and later Christians had lived there ever since.

There never was such a thing as Palestinians, at least from what I understand. It was just a geographical area, not a specific group of ethnicity.

I’m no scholar, so I may be way off, and don’t mind saying so.

I didn’t say that. I don’t know what to think. I don’t disagree or agree with you.

I remember as a little kid in catholic school, earliest 55-58-ish; that palestine was a place on the map and nobody questioned it... and that was only a few years after the fact.

The Balfour letter specifically mentions palestine twice and puts what became Israel, as it was establish at the time, in a specific place in palestine.


Dear Lord Rothschild,

I have much pleasure in conveying to you, on behalf of His Majesty’s Government, the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet.

‘His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.’

Over time, palestine was no longer on the map...
The question: if Israel was for the jews and was carved out of palestine, who\what were those that weren’t Jews and lived in the area known as Palestine ?

Like i said...I don’t know what to think.
