“....runs for Congress as libertarian...”
Good for him but running as a libertarian he won’t get enough votes.
Oh my goodness, Spunky....that poor thing! It was so terrified - that made me cry lol.
Sheeeesh Old Pro....you’ve seen more of Canada than I have!
We have definitely veered even further left, but I don’t know how or if that would have any affect on you if you’re visiting. Just check to make sure of the status at the border regarding vax requirements (Turdeau kept those in place longer than any other country), and, oh! Take the number of people from the Middle East that you remember seeing and multiply it by a million.
I turned the recipes into a Word document and passed it on to various family members. It's an artifact from an earlier era when women were expected to be artists of the kitchen.
We just had ANOTHER head on collision on the freeway not to far from me. A 79yr old going the wrong way causing several crashes. 2 killed. He and the first car person he hit.
I think I have told everyone I ALMOST got hit head on. That IS the main reason I DON’T like to go anywhere anymore. I hear it happening here almost weekly.
That sounds fascinating, Publius!
What a treasure that would be to have.
So, is that where the anchovy/pasta recipe originated?
Yes. It was a traditional dish for Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. I’ll be serving it for Christmas Eve this year.
We found my grandmothers cooking notes, nobody could read it and it didn't make sense. So we are all still looking for the Sicilian Manicotti recipe. We watched in amazement as she rolled the sheets so thin they were translucent cuttable with a fork.
I had issues with my mother’s penmanship, too. But I worked my way through it.
That is so nice.....it does sound good.
Enjoy!

This is just the beginning. I have a feeling vacation homes and snowbird homes will be utilized later.
Add the anchovies and 1/4 cup water so that the anchovies will break up and become a powder suspended in the oil.
Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package. Pour the oil-garlic-red pepper-anchovies mixture over the pasta. (Cooked pasta is one of the most thirsty substances on earth, so it will absorb all that goodness.)
Serve with Parmesan, Romano or Asiago sprinkled on top.
So that’s the little tins of anchovies? The ones packed like sardines, only smaller?
...
excellent information, thanx
Yes. A whole tin should be added to the mix and sauted. When you boil off the water you end up with oil infused with anchovies.
“It’s an artifact from an earlier era when women were expected to be artists of the kitchen.”
Yes it is. This cook book even told you HOW to set a table etc.
Sometimes I wish society would go back to those times. Where women were women and men were men. Having etiquette etc.
We used to have 13 fish dishes on Christmas Eve.
Everything from shrimp to “bacala” to squid, octopus, etc. Somehow we didn’t manage to get anchovies in there, and some of the family were Sicilian. Well, they’re still Sicilian....just not part of the family any longer.
Do you drain the anchovies first or just dump the whole thing in, seeing as it’s likely olive oil as well?
