The Nazi’s are a political / social movement and atheist.

***If you had framed the argument such that Nazi’s (far right) are really just the same as communists (far left) in that both are totalitarian, highly centralized, atheist (religion might oppose the agenda and it competes for power), and systems where the citizen is a mere subject and ultimately this form of collectivist thinking squashes any sort of liberty and individualism, I could agree.***

The basic argument here is that instead of a flat spectrum, it’s a circular continuum where if you get to the bottom may it be from the left or right, you end up in exactly the same $hitty place.

But that’s not what you did.

Besides, Russia isn’t communist, and we aren’t really this beacon of freedom anymore either.

Russia moved towards decentralization and privatization for a while (90s), with large parts of their economy, as we moved more towards centralization and government control through regulation. We both have centralized governments (Moscow / Washington) that set the tone for the whole nation.

The Russians today are an oligarchy, meaning you have a small elite class that rules that place. Just like us: https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/perspectives-on-politics/article/testing-theories-of-american-politics-elites-interest-groups-and-average-citizens/62327F513959D0A304D4893B382B992B On MOST decisions where the small ruling elite has interests contrary to the majority, the small minority elite wins in the political arena.

Russia is a flawed democracy. But unless you want to tell me that the less than charismatic, somewhat FUGLY looking, low energy, mumbling, sometimes putting his foot in his mouth Biden, who ran a campaign from his basement and had less rallies and speeches than any other candidate since WWII won 81,000,000 votes, more than Obama, “fair and square,” we also have our issues in this regard.

Russia does not really follow a Constitution, just like us. Name me one of the Bill of Rights which has not been abridged?

When it comes to human rights, we have abdicated the high ground in literally every possible area: torture, kidnapping, transparency of government, assignations, backing despots... Today the differences between us and say Russia are largely polemic (comparing them to Nazi’s, calling them a horde, whatever...) while we do the exact same things, or finance, train and arm folks who do. Do you realize when it comes to all this “propaganda” and “censorship” today, others basically copy us? Do you realize that as we began on the slippery slope which brought us here post WWII, we were the ones that largely came up with the manual on how to play the non-conventional warfare game and we have deployed more troops, spent more money, operated in more countries, over thrown more governments, than anyone else? BTW, did we get our boys home: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Gideon_(2020)#/media/File:Operaci%C3%B3n_Gede%C3%B3n_2020_-_SEBIN_capture.png? That’s another great Biden success story.

We are actually very alike, two powers with a sphere of influence. We both are willing to use force not in defense but in furtherance of economic interests. We both are the ones that control near all the worlds gas and oil (energy which keeps things moving). We control 2/3rds, Russia controls 1/3rd, but everyone gets their oil from areas that either the US or Russia control. However, we are the remaining super power, Russia a has-been that wants to maintain what they see as theirs. The balance of power is no longer there. You now have a super-power competing with a has-been power that in reality is conventionally #6 today. We’re bumping heads because we think it’s our right to step all over their turf, even take away what has been theirs for the last 80+ years (all for peace, democracy, and human rights of course) or where they have formal alliances, example Syria which we simply decided to invade and they have navy and air bases there (that’s a formal ally since 1970).

***You can find “something” to compare “anyone” to the Nazi’s, even us, and some folks do.

Some folks compare Israel to the Nazi’s.

Some folks called Trump a Nazi.

The only thing that does seem to be true about folks mentioning Nazi’s in their argument is Godwin’s Law: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law

Interesting post. The last point is what I have been asking, and Godwin’s law is exactly my point, same could be said if calling someone a racist, bigot or Isra-phobic…..

Someone at best you disagree with, but more likely hate and after your argument is exhausted you start screaming nazi, racist….

Calling oneself or calling someone a nazi In todays world is ridiculous.

I still maintain that Russias/putins actions esp in regards to Ukraine are far more like than unlike the actions of the nazis of ww2

Russia is a racist, dictatorship wrapped in the cloak of “democracy. The oligarchs are the same as the industrial leaders of nazi germany, living well, making lots of money but ultimately working on behalf of their govt.

Has the US slid in that direction, yes I would agree, is xiden in charge of anything? No more akin to the demented hitler of the last days of the third reich

Is there a dimes difference between repubes and dims, perhaps a pennys worth and that applies to just a few, like Trump look at the flack and you know who is mover the target

The deep state and uniparty are the ones calling most of the shots, the media is mostly no different than RT.

To your point that both sides do it….., don’t disagree just find it fascinating that so many on the pro Russian side like to wrap themselves in the “we are saving Christian values “ cloak

Overall thanks for the reply
