I would not be to hard on her, she's young and has been lied to her entire life. This is her first taste of reality. She was under the impression that life after collage would be so easy.
I tried to count, like how many times she like said “like”. I couldn’t like do it.
Fifty years ago it still had some of the qualities of civilization. I didn’t live there, but I and other people who lived in neighboring towns didn’t hesitate to go there. It went into steep decline after that. There isn’t a chance I would go there now.
I noticed she didn't mention what type of job. I'd bet it's not any kind of manual labor. She also didn't mention what type of degree she has that won't let her start at lower to mid-management with possibly better hours.
My bet is her parents paid for some worthless "cultural" degree while she sits in some cubicle just dying to use her phone against company policy for some stupid "social media" idiocy. I could be wrong, but I believe we are going to see alot of this from the GenZ demographic.
It astounds me how much our educational institutions have failed their students in basic economics. You don't have to be a math major to know about "room mates" "sharing expenses/utilities" and "transportation" I did all 3 after I had to leave my dysfunctional home life at 16.
I slept in garages and cars of friends and associates to keep my low-paying jobs (many times I was near starvation). I saved and was able to move into a weekly motel for a short time, and from there a 3 bedroom Apt with room mates. I continued to advance through hard work and savings to the point of renting a small house with my new wife. Than I joined the Navy which gave me less pay by being an E-1, but we worked it out with Spaghettios, smam, cheeze sandwiches, and soups.
I continued my work ethic and was MERITORIOUSLY advance from E-3 to E-4 on my first ship. I was 1 out of the ship's company of 600, but many nominees. Enough. Sorry to bore you all, but hard work, best work ethic, and sacrifice lead to success. Why do I know this besides my history? I've owned and operated 3 small companies after Navy and knew the right people to hire. 1 was a failure due to the competition. The other 2 I made so successful I retired at 57. I'm 73.
Bottom line: I would never have hired this whiny self-indulgent brat.
This is the real world. If you can’t stand it, you can always go into politics, which is as far from the real world as you can get.
I didn’t (couldn’t) watch the whole video, but for about 15 seconds I kept flashing back to this:

Was it just a Texas thing to work 8-5?

It was a strange situation. A couple of years before the original owner - a friend of mine from high school - had a breakdown. I was one of two VPs at the time. We found outside financing that basically took the company away from him and sold it to someone else. They made us minority owners. A year later THAT company merged with another and we ended up with 5 owners. The idiots we merged with screwed up and lost major contracts, putting us in a financial bind. They convinced one of our owners to get rid of the other two owners on our side, me being one of them.
So they asked me to write down what I did, since they were clueless. At the time I was HR (for 43 employees), IT (32 workstations and 4 servers), AR, AP, and Project Management for about 5,500 orders a year. Basically everything that wasn't actual production or sales. I actually did do sales, but it was only 3% of the $4.7 million in revenue, so it was expendable.
Anyway, they gave me 8 weeks to train the five people who were replacing me. They also "gave" me uncontested unemployment benefits, all the actual money I had put into the company (we had a capital call 12 months earlier and I had to come up with $5K) and health insurance for 30 whole days after termination. I had worked for this company for just shy of 20 years.
Did I tell them about the flaw in the critical software I had written that tracked order production that was going to require a major fix and recompilation of the database within the next few months? Naw.
All that after 10 short years in college.
That’s hilarious...she’s freaking out over being a grown up.
Our oldest grandson (then age 16) got his first job as a part-time pool lifeguard. He was shocked when he saw taxes taken out. His mother stopped to buy gasoline and paid $30. The young man said, “Wow, I would have to work more than two and a half hours to pay for that gas!”
The school of life teaches necessary lessons.
She needs Dolly belting out “working 9 to 5” in a loop in to her earbuds on a loop.
I didn’t work outside the home much.
When I did, it was like a vacation.
And I didn’t get much vacay.
Oh dear. The poor little angel. Like . . . I feel so sorry for her. Like . . . she has a trashy mouth. Like . . . I feel bad for the company that hired her.
I filled up with gas there back in 2011. I knew then it was kind of bad but I was with others who were less savy about that and wasn’t calling the shots so I didn’t have much of a say in where to stop.
Place next to the gas station looked like some porno joint. Kept head on a swivel, paid with cc, and got out of there fast.
I am pacing thru the house unable to stop laughing after watching that!
” (What good is sleep, anyway ๐).”
Our motto was “We will sleep when we are dead”.
We have slowed down a lot in our older age, but right now, hubby is out working on a new barn that he wants to leave for the grandchildren. He is not as fast as he was 20 years ago, (we could build a pole barn in a weekend) but he can still get the job done. And, I’m cooking a home cooked meal so he can eat when he comes in.
She did not trash her employer. No reason to fire her. Hopefully, she will stay with it long enough to figure things out. I doubt she will, though.
This lil gift doesnโt know stress.
Waaaaaaawaaaaa
