Back when I was in HS, in the Stone Age, Coaches told us DO NOT DRINK A LOT OF WATER AFTER EXTEREME PHYSICAL EXERTION.
The reason was that you would dilute your electrolytes to the point that your heart and other muscles would not be able to be controlled by the nervous system.
This was before ‘Gatorade’ was available to everybody...............
I was in flag football in middle school. We were not allowed to drink water during the game. We could spray water into our mouths with a spray bottle and we could eat orange wedges.
