But that doesn’t mean that “ping pong” or for that matter, “comet”, wasn’t used as some sort of code word before that. My guess would be that the pizzagate place was deliberately named to send a signal, rather than the name becoming a code word because of the place. IDK. Just my guess.

I don’t mean they were referring to the restaurant. I suspect these people were luring teens and young kids to their houses with parties, drugs and games… I’ve read accounts of Hollywood in the 80s and 90s that say as much. Obviously, “ping pong” became a code word.

Personally, I think Downey was talking about a real game of ping pong where he smashed the table. But the reaction between him and Letterman tells me there was a double entendre at play.
