I'm completely embarrassed by the dismal performance by Dave Roberts and the Dodgers. They'll always be my team but this was disgusting.
I remember hearing the same thing from a Yankee fan in 2001...
Can’t win ‘em all-—not that Dodgers ever did, especially in post season-—but hey !
...cheers from Phoenix
Dodger fans like myself are getting pretty tired of Dave Roberts’s boneheaded use of his pitching staff.
But there’s plenty of blame to go around when a high powered offense goes into a playoff series and can’t hit a lick.
I’ve seen the same thing in the past and it feels like over and over. It hurts more every time.
Whatever that is I’m not opening it because I’m getting a malware warning on it.
What is it?
It’s a cliche, but, anything can happen in a short series.
They defiled the Dbacks pool in 2013. The Baseball Gods got their revenge this week.
Happened to the Rays.
Happened to the Orioles.
Happened to the Dodgers.
Will happen to the Braves.
MLB playoff format stinks.
The four teams should quickly organize some kind of consolation playoff: Rays 3game vs Dodgers, Os 3game vs Braves, winners 3game each other, all money goes to Red Cross humanitarian aid.
If the Braves go down to the Phillies, only one division winner will have made it to the Championship Series.
Something has to be done, because it’s obvious the time off, throws teams off. Maybe the teams should at least play simulated games during the week, or something.
A soundbite of Tommy Lasorda saying, “It ain’t my *&#*ing fault. Campanis is the *^#&ing guy!”
I am surprised Roberts survived the 2017 season after deciding to have Darvish start for game 7 of the WS.
As a Astros fam, I was stunned that he would do that knowing how well the Astros knew him as a Ranger.
Braves are a joke too.
12 teams out of 30 make the playoffs.
The playoffs have steadily expanded in all the sports.
So now baseball sees 40% of teams making the playoffs. So there will always be some pretty good, but not outstanding, teams that make the playoffs. If not for TV money, we could return to a world in which only the best of the best made the playoffs. But that will never happen. Playoffs only expand, they never contract.
So true.
Baseball has insane variance-never see moneylines as high as football or basketball.
They add in these short series putting in even more chance and voila the regular season is near worthless.
The team of perpetual darkness.
Good.
No, I think wild cards should be one game played the the first day after the season ends. Just one game. The only reason the league put more games in is for more revenue anyway.
After that, the winners get on planes to start the series against the next cede the very next day. That way, the top seeded teams only get one day off and they can stay hot. The wildcard teams would be heavily disadvantaged, as is proper, after all they didn’t win the division.
This bye week stuff ain’t working and it ain’t working in ANY of the other sports either.
Was at the Phillies game. They atmosphere is intimidating to other teams.
