Oh, it is.

The main drag looking west. The second white building on the right with the periscope sticking out the roof is the Submarine Museum.

Looking north. The large white buildings in the background are the Trident refit facility on US Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, GA. (click photo for a larger version)

This is the entrance to the Saint Marys River. Florida is to port and Georgia is to starboard. The entrance is deep, well marked, and meticulously maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers for the Ohio-class boats. To starboard is Cumberland Island the largest of Georgia's 'Golden Isles' and home to the Cumberland Island National Seashore. It is only accessible by boat. The Cumberland Island ferry runs from downtown Saint Marys.

Seems like a hard place to hit a buoy but I remember one of our drivers figgering out a way to do it a few years ago?

Nice area. Not too terribly far from JAX, where my sister and bro in law, along with my niece, her husband, and family reside. It looks friendly, isolated, and well kept.

Beautiful!

I’ll have to say that I wasn’t too terribly far away when I visited Fort Clinch State Park a year or so ago.

Nearby Mayport is where my nephew gave me an in-depth tour of the Taylor, an Oliver Hazard Perry lass frigate. Shortly after that, the ship was decommissioned and sold to South Korea.

L.P.! Its A beautiful town with the sunset in the west over Florida in picture one. In Photo 3 with the wide blue river entrance and estuaries and island receding in the distance. The boat (Pleasure craft?) and the white trailers or wind ripples in the water! (A bit frothy the day of the picture! )

A lot of boats in photo 2! Shrimp trawlers or just fishing trawlers, so you undoubtedly have lots of great seafood!

Looks like a great place to live!
