Tucker Carlson on Soleimani killing: 'There are an awful lot of bad people in this world. We can't kill them all' (Flashback)

Tucker Carlson blasted Iran hawks in the Washington establishment Friday, saying they have wanted a war with Iran for decades and that they may have finally gotten it thanks to President Trump ordering a drone strike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani Thursday.

"What happened yesterday wasn't just another symbolic bombing," Carlson warned on "Tucker Carlson Tonight." "It was a pivot point. Neocons in Washington understood that immediately."

"Yes, Soleimani was linked to the deaths of Americans. Nobody mourns his passing. But Mexico and China are also linked to the deaths of Americans. Each has flooded our country with narcotics from which tens of thousands of Americans die every single year," Carlson argued. "Not that anyone in power cares. So does that mean we get to bomb Oaxaca? Can we start assassinating generals in the [Chinese] People's Liberation Army?"

Carlson said America's leaders should explain how Soleimani's death makes the country "richer and secure."

"There are an awful lot of bad people in this world. We can't kill them all. It's not our job," Carlson said, adding: "It's pretty clear that things could start to move in the wrong direction pretty quickly, we're praying they don't, but they could."

Just so everyone understands the situation here. They shot thousands of rockets into Israel. And they sent in 8 trucks with 8 20 something men armed with rifles and pistols. The trucks captured women and civilians.

So what did they hope to accomplish? They wanted to kick the hive. This is not a sustained attack. Its a provocation and a big one. You should ask yourselves who did it and why. Well those kids in the trucks are not really the masterminds here. They could not buy or shoot off rockets. And kidnapping women and tourists is not a war strategy its a political strategy meant to enrage Israelis or two simply provoke them into a response which will of course kill lots of Palestinians.

Maybe the Russians wanted to pay back Israel for something. But that implies that Russia has thousands of extra missiles. Not sure why they would use extra missiles this way. So, it seems Hamas and the Iranians may feel that the Saudis and Israel are getting too chummy. So they are trying to stir things up.

So what should Israel do? They should make them pay. But who? The people who paid for the rockets and set them off. They are the people who planned this thing and/or allowed it to happen. They should pay. Hamas and Iran should feel pain as well. And steps are needed to make sure this can’t happen again. But make sure that vengeance punishes the right people. And the community around the attackers need enough pain that they do not support the attackers.

Israel has had it good for the past few years. They want to get back to that. So the steps from here should be pointing back to a secure peace. How that is achieved takes some level heads. There are lots of tools to work with. And lots of objectives to be achieved.
