I've used several email programs in the past. Mozilla's, Outlook, yahoo. Right now I use gmail because my late wife and I used it for so much that I had to consolidate stuff to work on an assortment of issues.
If they still work as easily I should be able to put in the SMTP settings and have the emails all imported into whichever email program. Does that still apply?
I'd like from FR folks a few suggestions that are user friendly and as insulated from leftist manipulations as one can get. Thanks.
.50 twice!
Thunderbird makes great cars, wine, and e-mail clients. Compatible with all mail services.
Why not just keep your GMail acct? If I di not have a 29 year old AOL address as my main address, I would migrate to GMail completely. I have recently fallen in love with Google Docs/Drive for managing projects among people.
Heehee! I still use AOL, works fine and free since 1995!
I use GMail for all the people I don’t want to hear from and I never look at it.
I would recommend Thunderbird. It allows for encryption on emails. I use that feature to protect sensitive discussions regarding patents. Could be used to protect other information from prying eyes.
Outlook for full features and it works.
Kim Komando recommends Thunderbird as a free program.
Just use Gmail and if you look carefully at the settings you will find everything you need.
Thunderbird and Protonmail
Proton Mail. Full encryption.
THANK YOU!....FINALLY!
I use Thunderbird. I used Outlook for many years and then my Windows 7Pro OS and Computer became incompatible. It did everything I wanted. I just bought a new Dell W12 desktop from Costco. Also use AOL too as a many year acct that has become burdened with spam and too many Yahoo web mail accounts mostly as semi important accounts. But Yahoo has become difficult to deal with as they have oddly locked me out of several accounts by forcing 2 factor authentication on me where I’ve foolishly used a another Yahoo as a secondary account that I’ve oddly been unexpectedly locked out of.
If anyone has any experience with having Yahoo accounts retrieved, input would be appreciated. One of the problems with free email is you have little leverage in getting tech support. I’ve always kept meticulous records and an Excel file on account ID,, PW and opening relevant info on security questions etc. Maybe Yahoo is purposely looking for methods to prune email accounts
I am not sure about the latest security, it has not been "supported" by Microsoft since 2017 but this has not been a problem for me. I also have Microsoft Outlook which has more features, but it seems more cumbersome and intrusive.
You install it by going to "Choose the programs you want to install" then uncheck all the options except Mail in Windows Live Essentials.

Thunderbird here
I use Thunderbird on the desktop and Fairmail on the Android phone. Still connected to Outlook.com but love the privacy and security between both apps.
I just need to get away from Outlook com now!
Good stuff :)
