Too many idle rich anyway, living on the hard work of others with no appreciation of what it takes to earn that kind of wealth. With few exceptions, it is never a good idea to leave your children with so much money that they never have to work for a living. They typically get spoiled and end up with wasted lives. Also, they tend to be very liberal, as they will never know what it is like to earn their own wealth on their own hard work and merits.

I heard that one of the major investors behind Canary Wharf got his start by inheriting seven commercial buildings. He then developed his real estate empire.

I would give the money to my kids, but with strings attached.
They could go to school/college forever, if they wanted - as long as they passed and maintained a good average.
If they worked, they could not collect more than a certain amount.
If they get fired they lose it for that year.
If they are unemployed they get nothing.

I would give them the seed money to start their own business, and let them sink or swim.

In the modern world, the children are often retired by the time they get the money.
It is useful at that age.
