Baseball Hall of Famer and Orioles legend Brooks Robinson died Tuesday, the team announced.

He was 86 years old.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Brooks Robinson,” the team said in a statement on X. “An integral part of our Orioles Family since 1955, he will continue to leave a lasting impact on our club, our community, and the sport of baseball.”

Robinson, who spent his entire 23-year career with the Orioles, is widely recognized as one of the greatest defensive third basemen of all time, racking up 16 Gold Gloves.

Brooks played minor league baseball here in York, PA up the road from Baltimore.

He made many personal appearances around York after retirement and I spoke with him more than once always a class guy.

Defensively, Brooks Robinson owned The Hot Corner (Third Base) for 20 years.

I saw him play several times in Comiskey Park in Chicago, and several more times in south Florida during Spring Training.

No great plays to report in person, but the highlight films are amazing.

He could hit the long ball, too.

Over 20 HRs in several seasons, as I recall.

Sports Illustrated once called him “The Brooks Robinson Vacuum Cleaner Company.”

One of the best of all time. Remember the 1970 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds?

According to the Baltimore Sun he used to attend Halloween parties dressed as Erwin Rommel. You couldn’t get away with that today, bomb plot notwithstanding.

RIP Brooks!

My favorite player of all time.

He was mine as well, at one time. Cal Ripken Jr. overtook him though, at some point, and I'm still convinced he's the best. What a great legacy, and franchise, they both represent.

I will concede that George Brett and Mike Schmidt were better hitting third baseman, even Clete Boyer. But I never saw anyone field better than Brooks Robinson. RIP Brooks.

"Best Defensive 3rd Baseman. Schmidt is the best all around 3rd Baseman"

And George Brett is where? My cousin's garage is a Shrine to Brooks Robinson.

They sure made Baseball exciting.
