Honky on the sticks did all the work, and got a raw deal out of it.
I can’t remember the last time I saw a player put a capo on the 7th fret. Maybe never. Interesting.
I saw AC 3 times at our local jazz club here in Dayton,OH - incredible show every time!
He always had a twinkle in his eye and looked like he was always having a good time.
You lucky dog. I’ve been binge watching AC youtubes and have yet to see a low energy performance. He always brings it.
For guitar nerds — his tuning is open F minor, hence the capo. I don’t know of anyone else who uses that tuning.
One show he was playing his guitar that was hardwired to his amp.
He began walking off the 12” high stage into the crowd - everyone was sitting at their tables - and kept playing his guitar.
He eventually made it to the door, walked out onto the sidewalk...al the while still playing his guitar and staying up with his band still playing on stage.
Some people in the club followed him out and began dancing & groovin’ right there on the sidewalk.
All this with his very long guitar cable still attached to his amp on stage.
Eventually he made it back on stage to finish the song.
It was wild - everyone drinking at their table and seeing a GREAT entertainer...who could REALLY play that ax!
Fortunate. Wish I had seen him.
Thanks for posting the song.
bkmk
AC was also in one scene in the movie “Adventures in Babysitting” set in a Chicago blues club.
That scene is killer...and is darn close to his club shows.
HOTS sounds good but is working too hard at it IMO. Watching him play drums is like watching someone drive nails with their hand choked way up on the hammer. The best drummers make it look easy because they don’t have to force it. They just flow.
Here’s an example:

I just read his bio on Wikipedia. Died at 61 after a 3 month battle with cancer. Wonderful, I just turned 61
The Master of The Telecaster
Yep, the story is he had a 150’ cable. AC was just a flat out great entertainer. Virtuoso guitar with showman instincts out the wazoo. To me he’s the most exciting of the classic blues guys to watch. That said, Buddy Guy was also known for doing the wading into the audience thing while playing.
George Harrison. Here Comes the Sun.
That was Roy Buchanan.
Albert Collins holding back so as not to embarrass Lonnie Mack and Roy Buchanan:

Roy Buchanan is pretty good but he’s no Albert Collins.
Albert was great, no doubt. On that video, Roy was playing like crap. He was bipolar and would get frantically disjointed in his phrasing sometimes. When he was on, he was almost untouchable. Jeff Beck considered him one of the greatest.
My favorite AC song....it captures that twinkle in his eye...
“They had barbecue possum, rattlesnake gravy
Chicken fried skunk, an’ it smelt real crazy
Ev’rything went fine, but one thing made me blue
A cat reached across my plate, for some armadillo stew
Now when you at the table, you act real nice
You say, “pass me that” or “pass me the pie”
But just because you hungry, an’ happen to come in late
Don’t you go reachin’, across MY plate”
