Chrome browser not allowing me to see FreeRep. page on my phone! Happened 2 days ago for a few hours. Happening now.

I will firstly admit that I am the opposite of Tech Savvy. I resisted moving on from my WebTV gadget to my laptop computer for years. I only stopped, when customer service at Best Buy didn't even know what WebTV was and had to Tweet their managers or their Dads.

That being said, I have noticed some difficulty getting FreeRepublic to show up on my cell phone (or Android). It first happened last Wednesday. I would press the button in my Favorites for FreeRep, but I would be lead to my last search page on Google, often about topics having nothing to do with FreeRep. I tried multiple times and with the same result.

Finally, I thought, it's time to use my other browser, Firefox. That works just fine. Chrome has prevented me from viewing the FreeRep. page since yesterday Saturday morning at about 8.30am. I was already up, preparing to go to my part time job. Hoping to get one last 'fix' of the news before my job started at 9am.

I bring this up so those who manage this website are aware that a few FreeRep. users may also be getting the Walled Off treatment.

Try typing in "freerepublic.com" in the search/url bar. It sounds like your favorite got corrupted or remade in error. If so, delete the favorite and recreate it.

ungoogled-chromium available for unix systems; the google hooks are removed. It worked fine. I don’t know about microsoft systems.

That said, I still use Firefox.

Thanks, I’ve read about it but haven’t tried it (yet).

That’s something I hadn’t considered. Good tip.
Maybe I’m creating my own stumbling blocks.

Been using it for several months now and like it, basically hardened Firefox. And it blocks “canvas” and a lot of other fingerprinting weaknesses. It has the built in capability to use the Sear X search engines also. :)

Then don’t use Chrome.

Google owns Chrome. The CCP owns Google.

What the ‘Ell did you expect?

Can you use Chromium? It is the same engine but all of the Google crappola stripped out.

Dump Chrome and Firefox.
Use Brave.

I’d be interested in knowing if anyone uses Vivaldi. It’s supposed to be like the old Opera, which I used almost exclusively several years ago.

Yes, as my second browser after Firefox portable. Both can be hacked to enable multiple tab rows. https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/445548 https://github.com/Izheil/Quantum-Nox-Firefox-Dark-Full-Theme/tree/master/Multirow%20and%20other%20functions/Multirow%20tabs

Thanks, https://librewolf.net/docs/features/ Though happy with my hacked Firefox portable installations, the closest to Firefox legacy (ESR). Thank God for such helps.
