Do you have any family-owned beef or hog farms in your area?
One of my neighbors raises beef to sell directly to local people and another raises hogs. The hog farmer takes his hogs to a local slaughterhouse for processing and they sell to local people. You buy the beef or the hog, they take it to the slaughterhouse, and you pay the processing fee at pickup.
Nothing goes to China and back.
I’m in farm country though. Not everybody is.
Beef only ranches around here. Smithfield rules the grocery stores here. Smithfield was taken over by China. It’s not worth the risk to me. I know the guy that raises my beef.
