I support his proposal simply because I am curious to see how it turns out.

***SPOILER ALERT!***

Like in the Soviet Union and Mao's China, it will be a store of empty shelves.

Only people with a healthy BMI should be allowed to shop there.

Well, let’s see. Government program? Yep
Democrat Government program? Yep
Democrat government program in Chicago? Yep

Guaranteed to fail.

I predict $500,000,000 over budget, store opened in 15 years, closed in 8 months due to crime.

A fully stocked government store. I’m sure they’ll offer Soylent Green, in addition to Soylent Yellow and Soylent Red.

They may also introduce Soylent Brown! I can only guess what might be in it. Perhaps the gubmint’s way of saying ESAD!

This isn't going to get off the ground because central planning has never worked in recorded human history.

Leftists like Johnson doesn't understand logistics and supply chain management.

Once he realizes this, he'll blame the racist suburbs.

This is a pacifier for the blacks angry over the illegals coming into their 'hoods.

Well, if I am betting the over/under, it will be over ambitious and underwhelming.

Politicians running a business? What could possibly go wrong?

DC has a place called Eastern Market where the city rents out spaces. In the past it had a Central Market and I believe a Western Market along K Street.

Baltimore had a place called Lexington Market that had lots of food stalls when I lived in Baltimore. I bought most of my food at the Giant in the Rotunda just south of Roland Park.

"to promote food equity"

Equality yes, equity, no. This "equity" line is getting on my last nerve.

Cool! They can call it “King Looters” or “Safegetaway” or “Krobars”... Or the less coy “Ghettos”.

It will pretty much be operated unintentionally as a food bank.

New York City has street vendors of fruits and veggies.

NYC stores often had produce out front.

I remember seeing Asians buying veggies near Manhattan Bridge before I boarded a bus to DC.

They ignore the obvious problems. You have a “food desert” because the grocery stores moved out due to robbery and theft.
It never occurred to libtards that they need to fix their communities so they can function.

When I lived in Baltimore a black man sold produce out of horse-drawn cart.
