No one wants to talk about the real possibility that some of the steel was substandard. It wouldn't be the first time substandard steel was used on a construction project, especially in New York City.

Inspectors in the last decade uncovered issues with the steel used in the Bay Bridge in San Francisco and everyone stands around wondering how that could happen.

T.B. We still have a bunch of the steel that they could test if they wanted if someone wants to do that. (I thought it was the connectors on the bay bridge that were substandard?)

The architects anticipated a small plane strike on the building in their design, but they did not anticipate a 747 striking the building with a full load of fuel.
