Any parent who gives their teenager a hot car is just asking for tragedy. Back in the 70s my son was happy to get used Falcon with a small engine from me. He’s still alive and thriving, thank the good Lord.
When my daughter was in high school I gave her my then 20 year old Ford F-150 to drive. Before I let her have it I showed her how to check the oil, brake and transmission fluid, how to use the jack and change a tire, and then made her change it back.
She took it with her when she went to college, but didn’t check the oil for a year and ended up burning out the engine. She has been meticulous about maintaining her vehicles ever since.
