The guy that was telling the story was trying to get across just how much power that was. I think he got it across with the damage done. It's still beyond me. Tons of science and physics there that's waaaaay over my head. But, the basics are scary as hell.

One of the problems I see is that if we have our own lazers and we blow the satellite out of orbit if it creates space debris traveling at 18,000 mph the other users of the universe will be major pissed off. Probably why we don't blow it up.

Also, do you really want a pissing war of shooting each others satellite into bits and pieces,now you have true space junk that is bound to get ET attention and no telling how they would retaliate.
