rock island armory (armscor) makes an EXCELLENT MILSPEC GI 1911A1.
They are made in the Philippians, using the same machinery colt used during WWII. Upon close inspection and comparison to colt milspec 1911 parts, cut, fit and finish, they are the same. Used to be ~$385, now about $450ish.

I bought a few of those Rock Island 1911’s when they first came out. Could find zero problems. subsequently bought/sold a dozen or more. Still zero problems. Total interchangeability with after market parts. Very good value especially in their price range. Cheap enough to waste as truck guns.
