The coastal range is way more private timber than National forest: think Weyerhauser, LP, etc. There is an outfit near Tillamook that builds/tests super high flying balloons that get spotted by ground folks regularly. And Tillamook is where the largest balloon hanger in the country still is. And McMinville is home to Evergreen Aviation-—the home of the CIA’s old Air America. And don’t forget that whole coast range was a target of Jap Balloon bombs back in the WW II day. And we haven’t yet found all of those. Lotta things to watch out for in that range.
