The crew and passengers on UA93 were real heroes. Many heroes that day and the days after, including all the first responders.
Several of the passengers on-board 93 lived in my area, as I was living in the bay area at the time. I was working at the foot of the bay Bridge at the time, and we had to stay closed for a few days as the bridge was supposedly on a list of potential targets. Then there was a controversy about whether to continue to fly the US flag on top of our tall building. Some didn’t want to “provoke the terrorists”. I, along with others, said if we take down our flag then they win. We won, I wonder if it was today if they’d make the same decision.
I think I read that the mosque at Ground Zero is now allowed to blast out the call to prayer five times a day for all to hear. My guess is that today the same decision would not be made and the flag would go into hiding. It may still.
This is one of the best tributes of 911 that I have seen.
” Creator’s Note: I heard this version of “Sounds of Silence” by Disturbed, and that song evoked an emotion and that emotion in me helped in the creation of this tribute video. While I wish all of the images were high resolution....some images of that day were caught with low quality equipment and the images I chose all seemed to fit with how I was feeling. I witnessed the events of this day like many of us did and it changed me forever. It will always feel fresh in my mind and feel like it happened yesterday. Having experienced such a tragic day....your outlook on so many world events changes. It is amazing how divided the world seems right now but how unified we all were after the events of 9/11....”
Only for a little while were we all united. :-(
