Lessee: How long until leftists start parroting “3rd pole” in climate alarmist propaganda?
I’m sure the paper was funded by the CCP.

Your comment is abominable.

The Tibetan Plateau also plays a substantial role in the global climate system by affecting atmospheric circulation and driving weather patterns, such as the Asian summer monsoon, around the planet. Not nearly as much as our failure to switch to all green energy! And the lingering effects of slavery and the systemic racism in American society.

That would be Rodney Gitmo. The Earth’s third pole.

A long time ago I read that women were having poles installed at home and learning pole dancing to try to make their husbands happy.
May have had a role in global warming.

In particular, the jet stream is a bistable system interacting with the Tibetan Plateau. Part of the year it flows south of the Himalayas and the rest of the year it flows north of them, which turns the monsoons of India on and off.
If the jet stream migrates north, it will become monostable, drastically changing the climate for a couple billion Indians and others living along the north coast of the Indian Ocean.

It got me thinking how close Aconcagua was to the antipode of Everest.
Everest ~28 N, ~87 E
Aconcagua ~32 S, ~70 W
off by 23 deg longitude but only 4 deg latitude.
