The Jews (Hebrews) originated from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Some of the Philistines may have been assimilated into the Jewish population - but not the other way around - as other groups over time have also mixed in with part of the Jewish population.

  1. The "Hebrews" were not only "Jews" i.e. Judeans (tribe of Judah) but also the other 11 tribes. These were peoples who weren't 'lost' per se, but
    • Some, like the Benjaminites and Simeonites and some Levites were absorbed into Judea and became "Jews"

    • Some, like the Danites and Nephthalites were absorbed into the Canaanites (Phoenicians) and Arameans

    • Others became the sAmaritans (who have the Cohen gene)

    • Others after deportation were absorbed into the peoples of what is now present day Iraq, Iran and Syria
  2. the Jews also assimilated
    • Neighboring semitic peoples like Edomites (Idumeans) - completely and SOME Moabites, Ammonites, Arameans, etc. etc. - remember that people did convert to Judaism or, as in the case of Edomites were forcibly converted

    • some descendants of Philistines - the consensus is that the Philistines were proto-Greeks related to Pelasgians from the Greek peninsula who spoke an Indo-European tongue

The Philistines were too small in number to assimilate anyone and over time they got assimilated
