A 10-year-old African-American child was reduced to tears last week after he was arrested and hauled off to jail for urinating behind his mother's car.
Cops in Senatobia, a Mississippi town set just south of Memphis, have since apologized for the incident - with the local sheriff now calling the arresting officer's actions an 'error in judgement.'
The child's mother, Latonya Eason, said the August 10 arrest could have been easily avoided and that the responding officer went overboard by carting son Quantavious off to jail.
She said she was visiting her attorney's office when her son committed the public indecency infraction - which usually only warrants a ticket - and was inside when the unnamed cop came marching in to tell her what her son had done.
The furious mom said the officer was at first going to let the child off with a warning, but had a change of heart once other cops came on the scene. A lieutenant allegedly demanded cops take him in to be hit with a statute for being left unattended.

Eason spoke about the incident this week with FOX 13 Memphis, remembering how within 10 minutes of walking into her attorney’s office for legal advice, the first officer on the scene interrupted the meeting to tell her what her son had done.
'I was like, "Son, why did you do that?"' she recalled, after being brought out to the facility's parking lot at 216 S Ward Street, where her son had been waiting.

It’s legal in Japan. You can even see truckers doing it on sides of freeways. I’ve been spotted by cops dozens of times and they just look away and ride by on their bicycles once they realize I’m just watering the bushes and not a suspicious dude. Drinking on the street is also legal and stores sell booze 24 hours. It’s paradise.

Since when can’t a 10 year old boy be unattended? In every state I’ve heard of that age is fine to not have a parent or babysitter around. They can be out on their bike, hanging out, whatever.

Oh my goodness. The kid had probably been holding it in for a while and had to go. A ten year old doesn’t necessarily know that a lawyer’s office would have a public restroom and his mother probably told him to stay in the car.
I remember times when I was young my parents often had to stop on the side of the road to let one of us young ones step out of the car to pee.
The cops definitely over reacted. If you agree that the child needed arrested then what other punishment do you think okay for this infraction. Ten weeks in jail? Death penalty? Just think any law passed can be enforced at gunpoint. There should be allowances in the law for children’s needs and for goodness-sake, the cops should allowed for some leniency for a ten year old child!
Now, this child will grow up in fear of police and readily believe they are all “out to get you”.
Also, it matters not the name of the child. That had nothing to do with the child’s actions or the over-reaction (I hope) of the officers.

What was his mom’s attorney doing while this was happening?
I could see the mom saying take him to jail to learn a lesson, but this doesn’t sound like that was the case.
