Jared Bridegan’s ex-wife arrested, facing charges in his 2022 murder in Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jared Bridegan’s ex-wife has been charged in his February 2022 murder, State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced Thursday.

The State Attorney’s Office said it would announce “a significant development” in the investigation.

State Attorney Melissa Nelson, Jacksonville Beach Police Department Chief Gene Paul Smith, and ATF Special Agent Bob Bryson appeared at the news conference, along with Bridegan’s brother and widow.

Bridegan was gunned down Feb. 16, 2022, in Jacksonville Beach after taking his twins he shared with ex-wife Shanna Gardner Fernandez, and his then-2-year-old Bexley, his daughter with wife Kirsten Bridegan, to dinner.

I remember this case. This woman is the daughter of wealthy parents, and if the accusations are true (and it looks like they are), apparently she wanted whatever she wanted and no one was going to stand in her way.

News is reporting they will be seeking the death penalty for her AND the guy she was married to.

Seems appropriate in this case, if proven BRD. She really went downhill from the first husband to the perp toy. Even her parents' statement in the DailyMail link in my previous post makes it sound like they think she probably did it. Think of the shame, and the horror for them as grandparents to those nice-looking kids, one of whom has a lifetime serious illness.

Wonder if she was also raised Mormon, like the victim? I've heard that sometimes the children of teetotaling families suddenly discover that they have alcoholic genes when they go away from home and cut loose. Cannot imagine why a woman from her background would have taken up with an obviously sketchy guy and wrecked her body also unless she had serious rage issues from growing up and turned to substance abuse. Maybe he was her drug dealer.

Unless she pleads guilty (and I can’t see that happening) intimate details about her relationship with the 2nd ex that was involved will come out at trial.

My suspicion is Jared moved on with his life, was happily remarried and continued to be successful.....she couldn’t stand that, hatred festered and here we are.

My wife watches true crime murder mysteries all the time which means I do also occasionally......the way this played out is sadly all too common actually.

A friend of mine is going thru this now, the jealous ex-wife constantly ruining everything. She didn’t want him; how dare he find someone else who loves and respects him? I have fears of how far she will go. On the other hand, the news is full of stories of men offing their ex-wives as well. God hates divorce. The Sexual Revolution has been a gigantic FAIL.
