Ukrainians THUNDER RAGED ALL OVER CRIMEA | Ukraine War Update The waves of the war between Ukraine and Russia began to hit the cool waters of the Black Sea, the Crimean peninsula and the coasts of the Azov Sea. After the sinking of 2 ships of the Russian Navy with unmanned sea vehicles in the Black Sea and Azov offshore, the Ukrainians increased their attacks on Crimea. This was because Russia ‘s Black Sea Fleet was highly vulnerable after these latest attacks. After these attacks, Russia could not allow any of its ships to sail easily off the coast of Ukraine. There was also a tense wait in Crimea. This expectation was due to the Ukrainians retargeting the peninsula with possible air strikes.
Finally, the expected happened in the past days and the Ukrainian army targeted the peninsula that the Russians annexed with unmanned aerial vehicles. The address of the attacks was the most important port city of Crimea, Sevastopol. The Ukrainians had virtually blockaded this port city with 11 unmanned aerial vehicles. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that two unmanned aerial vehicles were hit by air defense systems near Sevastopol, which serves as Russia’s Black Sea naval base in Crimea, and nine unmanned aerial vehicles were dropped into the Black Sea with electronic warfare systems.
After the Russian Ministry’s statements, huge smoke appeared in the Sevastopol Bay. In Sevastopol, which is an important base for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the governor Mikhail Razvozhayev made confusing statements about the huge smoke that enveloped almost the entire South Bay and Lenin Street. Mikhail Razvozhayev claimed that these fumes were only the result of drills for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear events. Other Russian officials in Crimea, on the other hand, claimed that the huge smoke enveloping Sevastopol was the result of an exercise by the Russian Black Sea Fleet. However, the statements of the Russian Ministry of Defense pointed out that the smoke in Sevastopol was caused by drone attacks. There has been no statement from the Ukrainian authorities regarding these attacks yet.
On the same day that the Ukrainian drone army targeted Sevastopol, heavy explosions were heard from the Dzhankoy settlement in the north of the peninsula. After these explosions, three Russian helicopters were flying from the Nizhnehorsk region towards the Sea of Azov. After the explosions in Dzhankoy, the Russians closed the Crimean bridge again, this time stopping the movement of all traffic. It has been reported that the bridge is currently on a red alert and emergency rules are in place across the peninsula.
According to data from international intelligence sources, the Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted an important Russian military base in Dzhankoy. However, Russian officials on the peninsula reported that no military facilities were damaged in the settlement. Unmanned aerial vehicle attacks were probably carried out in this settlement as well. While the Crimea continued to shake with the attacks of Sevastopol and Dzhankoy, explosions were heard from another settlement on the peninsula.
This time, the address of the explosions was the Feodosia settlement of the peninsula. Huge clouds of smoke were also seen in this city. Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the President of Crimea regarding the smoke in Feodosia, claimed that the smoke screen in the city was caused by the drills. The Ukrainian authorities, on the other hand, have not shared a clear explanation about these explosions in 3 different settlements in Crimea so far. While Crimea continued to be the target of repeated attacks, Moscow was helpless in this regard.
The most strategic center of the Black Sea was almost under the blockade of the Ukrainians. The inhabitants of the peninsula were trying to escape from this region in a panic and panic after these latest attacks. However, due to the closure of the Kerch Bridge to traffic and the suspension of ferry services in Crimea, all exits here were in a sense closed. Beth Van Schaack, US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice and representative of the US Department of State, believes that some of Russia’s actions in Ukraine can be considered genocide, but the evidence still needs to be examined in order to bring charges against its commission.

“Genocide is difficult to prove because you have to have evidence that the perpetrators are acting with the intent to destroy a protected group, in whole or in part. But all the elements you mentioned are gratuitous violence, de-Ukrainization rhetoric, Russification of children who were deported from Ukraine to Russia and Belarus; these are the types of evidence and the types of behavior that can be considered for the accusation of genocide,” said the Department of State representative.
Van Schaack expressed confidence that prosecutors in Ukraine and other countries are carefully studying this evidence and determining whether they can open a case of genocide or not.

“At the same time, the underlying conduct, such as attacks on civilians, sexual abuse, displacement of children, can also be classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity, which are ultimately easier to prove. And it remains to be seen whether prosecutors will decide to press charges in genocide,” added Van Schaack.
Previously, Van Schaack also expressed doubt that Russian President Vladimir Putin would be arrested for crimes in Ukraine while he remains in office as head of state.

General Staff also said that the Moscow regime continues the illegal integration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine into its social and political space. Ukrainian soldier Illia Mykhalchuk who was captured by the Russian troops near the city of Bakhmut had his arms amputated in a dark basement by the Russians, and no stitches were applied to his wounds.
DETAILS: The Ukrainian soldier told a story of how in February 2023, mercenaries from the Wagner Private Military Company hit a convoy of Ukrainian military armoured vehicles. Back then, an anti-tank missile pierced Mykhalchuk’s vehicle. He had to pull the tourniquet on his mutilated limbs himself: his right arm was covered in shreds of cut flesh, and his left arm was cut by shrapnel. A few minutes later, the Russians drew closer and shot him in the legs.
The Wagnerites removed his tourniquets and replaced them with rough rubber tubes, tying them in tight knots that could not be undone. Later, Mykhalchuk was taken to another location, where he was placed in a dark, poorly ventilated basement.
Mykhalchuk believes his left arm could have been saved, but the rubber tubes caused necrosis and blackened it. The Wagnerites said they would provide medical care only after interrogations which lasted for many hours. The Ukrainian defender was sedated after the interrogation, and when he regained consciousness, both arms were amputated. At the same time, the stumps had not been stitched up but simply bandaged.
Mykhalchuk says he lost consciousness several times during the hours-long interrogations and was injected with an unknown substance that brought him back to his senses. Illia suggests his value to the Wagner PMC was simply to be subjected to psychological torture. Following his amputation, he was asked if he liked fishing and told that he would never be able to fight again.
Mykhalchuk sought help from other prisoners of war to get through his imprisonment. They bathed and fed him, kept watch and talked to him when the pain was too severe to sleep.
Mykhalchuk was brought back in a prisoners-of-war exchange on 15 April. Illia is currently undergoing treatment in the United States, where he has been fitted with bionic prosthetic arms.

Tanja Fajon, Foreign Minister of Slovenia, has visited the locations where Ukrainian rescue workers came to help after the floods.

Fajon visited the riverbed of Savinja where Ukrainian emergency workers are operating. They have to change the direction of the channel, and then they will be engaged in shore fortification from the side of the settlement, where there are residential buildings.

Since the beginning of the operation in Slovenia, the rescue workers of the joint unit of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have cleared and broadened 410 metres of the Savinja riverbed, built a 60-metre dam and strengthened 120 metres of the bank, the agency said.
The rescue workers also organized the transportation of large-sized military engineering equipment to the emergency recovery area by two tractors of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service.
In addition, assistance in dismantling a destroyed house located in the channel of the Savinja River was provided to local residents.
