Yesterday, I was at my brother's home and while waiting for him, I pickued up his Thursday edition of the Washington Compost (please - keep the comments of why he has that newspaper to yourself).
I hear you but how many of those indoctrinated souls have a newspaper subscription? I’m in my 50s at do not have a newspaper subscription, it’s day old news.
The younger folk, having such a short attention span can only withstand about a minute of audio or video before they tune out and are on to something else. The internet of things caused this.
Uh, no. I am a free man.
Have you ever noticed ...
...that the very same
“ intellectuals”
that say there is no such thing as absolute truth and that say all truth is relative
..are the very same people who...
Absolutely think
it’s absolutely true
and factual
.......anything they think ?
Many of the same people who read the Washington Post also read the New York Times, watch the legacy media, MSNBC and CNN and listen to NPR. They truly believe that they are extremely well informed.
In actuality, they are reading the same propaganda over and over. One of these outlets reports that “somebody says “..…“ “. Then all of the others report, “according to the Washington Post, “ ….” “. Thus they make it sound like a complete fabrication is a fact. Soon other outlets pick it up and do not even include the “according to the Washington Post” part. A complete fabrication lives forever on the Internet as a fact. No one has told a legal lie to be held accountable for it.
I might have been one of those in my youth. My guess is that such lefty listeners are likely to become conservatives over time, thought and experience.
Yep, see Tagline.
“Actually, the animating driver of leftism is narcissism. “
The sooner that people realize that fact, the sooner we can start treating these egomaniacs as the crazy people that they are. There are detailed articles on how to identify and destroy narcissists.
I do believe you captured the essence of Leftism in that one post of yours-and quite completely, too.
Whittaker Chambers was the first I recall who stated this aloud for the world in his immortal quote:
“...It [Communism] is not new. It is, in fact, man's second oldest faith. Its promise was whispered in the first days of the Creation under the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil: "Ye shall be as gods." It is the great alternative faith of mankind. Like all great faiths, its force derives from a simple vision. Other ages have had great visions. They have always been different versions of the same vision: the vision of God and man's relationship to God. The Communist vision is the vision of Man without God.
It is the vision of man's mind displacing God as the creative intelligence of the world. It is the vision of man's liberated mind, by the sole force of its rational intelligence, redirecting man's destiny and reorganizing man's life and the world. It is the vision of man, once more the central figure of the Creation, not because God made man in his image, but because man's mind makes him the most intelligent of the animals. Copernicus and his successors displaced man as the central fact of the universe by proving that the earth was not the central star of the universe. Communism restores man to his sovereignty by the simple method of denying God...”
Years ago a Freeper by private communication offered me a copy of his book "Witness" by Whittaker Chambers because he knew that it was difficult for me to obtain the book here in Germany. He sent the book, he sent it without compensation, he paid the cost of sending it. It was his idea and it was very generous, is tells us something about his generosity of spirit.
There is something about the humility that animates the conservative view of the world and man's place in it that compares favorably to the unmitigated conceits of the man of the left.
I like this!
That Freeper who sent you the book was me, FRiend, and I am glad that you were that grateful to get it!
(I have purchased and given copies of that book to others as well, so you are not alone. I do the same thing with Thomas Sowell’s “Basic Economics: A Citizen’s Guide To The Economy”. It is a gift that can (but doesn’t always) have greater meaning in some way for those who get it!)
Fair description of the leftist hard core.
But many who back them are simply blue staters who haven’t and don’t think it through and merely buy into the “nice people vote like this” ether that surrounds them.
“Blue Staters” like that would fall under the narcissistic or emotional label.
Spot on.
I am grateful for it but I must add a little embarrassed that I have forgotten your connection to the gift but clearly I did not forget the truth of Chambers’ message.
I know it’s been quite a while but how long? It seems about a decade.
I was a while back, but please don’t be embarrassed!
There is a Freeper out there who did me a great personal service by taking a stand I had taken, and instead of flaming me in the open forum, took the issue into Freepmail and we had rational discourse over a period of days, and by the method of civil discourse, brought me to the point where I could change my mind on an issue that was predicated on my core values…without having to change my core values.
It was a very significant event for me. And I can barely login to Free Republic without thinking of that generous person.
I did not realize how important that emotional transition was until some years later, but could not find that Freeper.
And that was every bit as important to me and worthy of remembering…but I didn’t.
I voice this often in my case as you just did in my case with the hope that other Freeper will remember as I did, and speak up!
The (com)Post represents the Federal trough. That’s its market, its equity, its constituents, and its purpose.
Leftists are often immune to reason or logic because their fixations are not logical but essentially emotional.I used to think that, but I realized that since no matter of fact can pierce their emotional veil, then it's neither emotional nor logical -- not even self-delusional: for them its empirical.
The Compost is simply obeying their motto:
“Democracy Dies in Darkness”
I don't know how many comics they carry now but I doubt it is 4 pages' worth.
