The Conquistadors defending themselves and sacking the Aztecs does not absolve the Spanish Inquisition. You’re conflating different things. You also seem to believe in a very left wing version of history. That the Spanish went in and wholesale cleaned house of all the natives is a revisionist America hating version of events and nowhere near the truth.

“You also seem to believe in a very left wing version of history. That the Spanish went in and wholesale cleaned house of all the natives.”

I didn’t say anything about that at all. Diseases from the New World wiped out a lot of them. nwrep praised God for the Conquerors and suggested that perspective as true. So don’t twist that on me.

What I said was, based on the very factual Spanish Inquisition, to praise one savage brutal culture as being righteous for destroying another savage brutal culture is hypocritical. The Spanish were no more civilized than the Aztecs where brutal savagery is concerned. They just had more advanced sophisticated toys to use for their human sacrifices than the Aztecs did. And they claimed savage, brutal, ignorant murder was God’s will. Once again:

And the Spanish Inquisition was not mass savage and brutal human sacrifice to a God? And the mass murder of these people was more righteous than their human sacrifice?

It is a simple yes or no question I’m sure you are intelligent enough to understand, yet you refused to acknowledge or answer. Ignoring it will not change the historical reality of it. It is the pot calling the kettle black.

“The Conquistadors defending themselves and sacking the Aztecs”

Good thing they kept the Natives from attacking Spain! Are you kidding me? Defending themselves? I am not sure I have heard anything so twisted backwards before. Their very title “Conquistadors” proves exactly the opposite. Their title is not “defenders”.

Let me start again. There was nothing in the article content about sacrificial practices OR the conquistadors. It is about a settlement of Artisans and Craftsmen. There was absolutely nothing that should have triggered nwrep to praise God for the Conquistadors destroying them. Like you said, the perspective is false to begin with. But it was not my perspective, I didn’t say it. The article didn’t even hint of it.

I don’t think anyone here is defending a left version of history-I’m certainly not-it is what it is, and nobility wasn’t involved on either side of any conflict over territory, treasure or resources-500 years ago, people were all still brutal-some were just more refined than others. The Natives did not all get killed-that is a ridiculous notion-if they had, people like me-descended from the former residents of Spain would not have any Native DNA.

The Spaniards did enslave, rape, murder the Natives that did not get the hell out of Dodge and go North into the Frontier, but they did that to their enemies in Europe, as well-history does not paint the Spanish as nice people any more than it does their Roman ancestors-and we all know what they did from the beginning to the end of the Roman Empire, everywhere they went...

Native Americans were engaged in bloody warfare all the time-they fought over territory, water and food sources, political advantage, trade routes etc. They formed alliances with other tribes to go to war with enemies-some chieftains who didn’t like Aztec rule made alliances with the Spanish to take down the emperor Moctezuma, and murder his successor Cuatemoc as well-nothing personal, just business as usual for humans at that time, in Europe or the New World-but the Spanish broke the alliance and massacred a bunch of people, they fought back etc-it was war, plain and simple. But there wasn’t any genocide-anyone who thinks there was needs to talk to an archaeologist with a brain-or just go online and do some non-biased reading...

There weren’t any clean hands or noble motives in war in those times...
