The problem is selective history. Denying true factual history does not change that history. Yet there are still 12th century mental firewalls that block out true history in complete denial of their own historical reality.
So what? Every culture has made mistakes through the ages. Why deny the reality if it has changed for the better? “Yes, Christianity screwed up a few times too, but we fixed it for the better”. Except this hints of being imperfect. Can’t even consider being imperfect.
Well... Man as a whole IS imperfect, absolutely none are exempt. At least it would not be dishonest and hypocritical. Honesty is good in God’s eyes, only then can one claim some sense righteousness. Trying to hide reality or lie about reality does not change reality.
Because of the fact man IS imperfect there is not one truly pure faith. And it is not the fault of the faith, it is the fault of man for not practicing that faith as it was truly meant to be practiced.
True-selective history is indeed a denial of what really went on-we don’t do ourselves any favors when we do that. It isn’t really possible to appreciate the accomplishments of any group of people unless you go back to find out who they were in the earliest times and how they progressed to who/what they are now-it is why archaeology is so interesting-nothing is ever “settled science” when it comes to human beings and progress, as long as there are discoveries to be made. `
But there are some really hard-core deniers out there when it comes to what went on between Native Americans and the Spanish in the New World, starting with the assertion that they were “saviors” in some way by the simple act of getting into a war for land and treasure with the people who owned and were fighting each other over their empires on it, for treasure and resources, as well as unlimited numbers of slaves to mine gold and silver, etc. It is plainly clear that the Spanish were just as greedy, cruel and acquisitive as the Natives. The people who think those Spaniards saved anyone aren’t thinking-the Natives were quite happy waging war with one another for treasure and territory, just like Europeans were doing at home. The word “conquistador” does not mean “savior”...
Normally as people progress, they come to find a way of worship that is closer to what is good in God’s eyes-there is evidence of that to see in many places-even modern pagans don’t practice human sacrifice any more-Christians and Jews don’t do that with animals, either-and we don’t kill humans for not believing as we do, either. But we are not perfect in our faith-we are imperfect beings-I don’t think being hypocritical or dishonest is pleasing to God’s eyes-we should accept who we are...
Well stated. I agree...
“I don’t think being hypocritical or dishonest is pleasing to God’s eyes-we should accept who we are...”
Absolutely.
Thank you...
